Disease Comparisons
Canada does poorly when comparing its listing average across various disease areas versus other countries. The Canadian listing average is lower than the international average in all disease areas, compared to five out of sixteen disease areas in last year's report. This is most concerning for disease areas where we know that choice of medicines is important to appropriately address the needs of different patients, some of whom will respond to some drugs and others who will respond to other drugs in the same therapeutic class.
The following table illustrates the Positive Reimbursement Percentages by disease area. Please note that cancer is not mentioned in this area, but is referred to separately in the report.
